Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

Hi, it's been a while. And I was told to check in, so here I am! I took a brief break from chickens over the winter as most of my favourite girls got old (8-12) years and died, and my production flock got beyond their useful age. And life got busy so I didn't replace them. But I have eight chicks coming tomorrow, and am super exited to start up again!

We have such a vibrant community here at BYC... tons of active friendly members. Of course, life gets busy, so I was thinking it would be fun to start a thread welcoming some of our peeps we haven't heard from in a while.

If that's you, come say hello and let us know what you've been up to. :)

(if that's not you, feel free to invite peeps you haven't seen in a while and say hi to those that post here)
We have a mix of Olive Eggers, Hampbars, Orpingtons, Rhode Island Reds, etc. Half the flock is getting older and not laying much so we just picked up some Sapphire Gems and Americanas. Sometimes we give them a marigold plant to destroy, they devour in a few minutes!

I got a message to check in! it’s been a long time since I’ve visited the site but I’m still enjoying my ducks (have since added in a goose) and currently have one duck sitting on eggs that we hope hatch!
It is good to see you Back!

I hope you get a good hatch out of the Brooding Duck!

I like the marigold idea!

You will be getting some more breeds that lay pretty colored eggs.

Welcome back, and good luck with your eggs!

No chickens right now. we've had to move several times. we left our last girls at our old place. they had become the top dogs of the bigger flock at our old place. they free ranged and it was basically the Taj Mahal for them. We couldn't take them away from that back into alcatraz and the old coop flooded in the winter. We've moved again into a stable home finally..We're building a coop and run this summer. with intentions of getting 4 layers.

It is good to see you posting here!

I am happy that you are going to get back to having chickens again. Do you have plans for the new coop?
