Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

Been happily and successfully raising Cornish Cross every summer. Thinking about taking the plunge to egglayers given the upcoming changes after the latest election. Time to check out coops again

Since I was on here last we built a house and moved in, and I’ve been planting fruit trees and building raised beds. And finally, I’m ready to start building a coop and get the chickens I’ve wanted for years. No pictures yet, but my son (who is a carpenter) looked at my plans today and told me he’d help me build it. I’m shooting for being ready by spring.

How exciting. Sounds like you have a lot to look forward to, and to keep you busy.

Wow, it's been awhile! I recently lost one of my Sapphire Gems- not sure from what. Did not take her anywhere to find out. I have one Sapphire Gem left who is 3 years old and an Easter Egger who is 6 years old. Only the EE layed eggs this year, until the one Sapphire Gem died- now the other Sapphire Gem has started laying! I have had 3 eggs in the past 2 weeks. I'm thinking she was bullied, but I would love to hear other ideas from more experienced farmers/owners of BYC.
