Good to hear from you. That's amazing you buff Orpington is still laying at 8 years of age.thank you so much for reaching out!! i know i’ve been awol but i do appreciate being a part of this community. even though i haven’t interacted in a while, i sometimes will link the community to other chicken-lovers who are looking for help with their own feathery friends, as it’s a treasure trove of info and resources!
here’s a photo of my dearest buff orpington, Small Blondie, who is still somehow laying eggs, at her geriatric age (coming up on 8 years!)
thank you! good to be back.Good to hear from you. That's amazing you buff Orpington is still laying at 8 years of age.
Those heritage breeds often do lay later into their lives. They are the workers for a backyard flock. I miss my buff Orpington. I have had quite a few great hens. Always friendly and curious.thank you! good to be back.
she’s actually the less prolific layer out of our two 8 year old buff orps! her sister, Big Blondie, lays far more frequently than her. i thought (and hoped) she’d slow down over the years, but she’s a tank!
aww im glad you’ve had so many great feathered companions! chickens really are the best, aren’t they? i love watching my girls dig around, pecking this and that, sunbathing, just generally doing chicken thingsThose heritage breeds often do lay later into their lives.
