I usually use the see but not touch method. I have the new chicks in a cage (dog kennel type) in the barn while they get used to the flock and the flock gets used to them. I let them have some time together while I am watching carefully. Even if they are tiny and I'm brooding them in the house I try to bring them out to the flock in a cage when there are warmer times. Maybe just for 30 minutes or an hour depending on the weather.Hello! Getting more chicks in April so will be looking for integration tips
currently working on hatching a dozen ayam cenami eggs unsure if they are mixed are not. hopefully i didnt get scammed either way i will have chicks. I am also trying to get my lil rooster back up and walking normally unsure what is going on. not anything that will spread since the hens are fine but he has been this way since feb shortly after valentines dayWe have such a vibrant community here at BYC... tons of active friendly members. Of course, life gets busy, so I was thinking it would be fun to start a thread welcoming some of our peeps we haven't heard from in a while.

Hi. I'm sorry I've been absent. Life and losses got in the way. I am here and after losing most of my flock to hawks, I have a new large coop and run and new spring chicks including 1 silkie a adopted yesterday and trying to tame down. I've been wanting a silkie for years!We have such a vibrant community here at BYC... tons of active friendly members. Of course, life gets busy, so I was thinking it would be fun to start a thread welcoming some of our peeps we haven't heard from in a while.
