Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

We have such a vibrant community here at BYC... tons of active friendly members. Of course, life gets busy, so I was thinking it would be fun to start a thread welcoming some of our peeps we haven't heard from in a while.

If that's you, come say hello and let us know what you've been up to. :)

(if that's not you, feel free to invite peeps you haven't seen in a while and say hi to those that post here)
Hello! Getting more chicks in April so will be looking for integration tips

Still happily keeping chickens here. The most fun update is that late last fall a baby chick suddenly appeared in our flock. This never happened before in 10 years. It turned out that one of our home grown bantam frizzles hid an egg and hatched it. The baby showed up running around with the flock outside on the first snowy day of the season! We named this baby Frosty he's now 5 months old. He is in my profile picture. I think his mama got away with it since she has a twin and the both can be quite sneaky.

I usually use the see but not touch method. I have the new chicks in a cage (dog kennel type) in the barn while they get used to the flock and the flock gets used to them. I let them have some time together while I am watching carefully. Even if they are tiny and I'm brooding them in the house I try to bring them out to the flock in a cage when there are warmer times. Maybe just for 30 minutes or an hour depending on the weather.

Hi. I'm sorry I've been absent. Life and losses got in the way. I am here and after losing most of my flock to hawks, I have a new large coop and run and new spring chicks including 1 silkie a adopted yesterday and trying to tame down. I've been wanting a silkie for years!

Busy as ever!
Raising this years new peeps and ducklings and tending our crazy flock!
