Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

I'm trying to stay out the heat like my chickens are. Looking forward to cooler weather to do some things outside. My girls chicken coop dropping trays are rusting up and developed holes in them. I need to get some new ones or fine materials to making new ones.
I am very happy that we are moving to the cooler time of the year!

Consider plywood,, and line them with Sweet PDZ, or sand. Have a perimeter edge to keep the granules from spilling. Use a cat litter scoop for the gumdrops.
Gumdrops, is that what we call them? :lau I love that! I clean mine daily and my coop does not smell. I put the "gumdrops" in an empty feed bag and after a few days my DH carries it out and dumps it in a nice bottomless garden container where he layers it with wood chips we got from the electric company. In a year or so we should have a nice batch of compost!

We have such a vibrant community here at BYC... tons of active friendly members. Of course, life gets busy, so I was thinking it would be fun to start a thread welcoming some of our peeps we haven't heard from in a while.

If that's you, come say hello and let us know what you've been up to. :)

(if that's not you, feel free to invite peeps you haven't seen in a while and say hi to those that post here)
Wow sorry I haven’t responded. Since last year we lost our oldest chickie. She was a 6 year old Wyandotte named Betty. She is much missed. She was always top peck but let another hen be boss. She would make sure they knew she was still on top with the odd peck every now and again. Keep them in line so to speak. We only have 3 hens, Hazel(Captain), Agnes(sergeant), and Barbara(corporal). Hope everyone and their flocks are doing well.

Lisa
