Chic bator The adventure Comeing now to a BYC thread near you!! We have viens!!

Thanks sumi , I think it works as well as a little giant for the most part you have to watch it just as much . I think I did well with 75% for the first time useing it. The other egg is still in there but nothing from it and when I took the babies out I picked it up and listened to it I didnt hear anything and it felt heaver then it should they should feel sorta light when there ready to hatch its hard to explain but I will give it till tammrow morning. Im gonna guess by wieght that it quit some time right after I candled. So far one case of pasty butt from these guys , Im gonna guess its a little cool in there for the babies so I moved them. Also have on case of curled toes not a bad case. I have a hard time with the yellow chicks when it comes to cots they seem to succum to feet and leg issues , pasty butt and drowning more then the others. I also have had one just spontanisly start bleeding from its vent befor . Im wonndering about yellows and genetics but thats a whole other ball of wax. I must say I was very surprised to have such good luck with this thing. I know people say it would be good for class rooms or kids but I dont think it would. Classroom temps fluctuate to much and kids might not be old enough to realize that they need to take special care to keep the eggs uniformly warm inside ect. But It does work if you baby it so I cant give it a horrible review just one with a big cuation attatched.

You know about hatching and you've done it before, so you know how to get the best out of it, but I won't recommend it for a beginner! I won't use it myself either. I agree about the kids and classrooms! I set some eggs on Monday and my son already asked me 4 times if the chicks are hatching yet. And we've been hatching on and off for years. You'd think he'd know by now. LOL

Thanks , it was one I helped hatch and the other one I helped hatch is failur to thrive I sapose thats what I get for helping . Some times they arnt ment to . She has a black belly and isnt eating or anything Im feeding her water and a little yogurt but Im guessing she wont make it. The one that hatched on its own though is thriveing and is double in size already . I dont know if its something to do with temps in the bator or if its just your normal variations in hatching and with only a few eggs shows up more .
