Chic Chick 'Bator *UPDATED*

Miss P would it be ok if we used your ideas to build one of our own incubators. like ive said befor ei bought this tiny little cheap plastic one that has been nothing but a headache. plus the odds are against me seeing as how it only holds 3 eggs, my chances are slim to none to having anybody hatch. my husband (who is the best supporter)saw how sad i was about only having 1 egg left that is developing (im only onmy 13 day) and offered to build me an incuabtor. i was hesitant at first but when i saw your and how simple you broke everything down i thought that it might be somethingthat we could look into. i definately wanted to get your permission first though. well let me know what you think.

Of course you should build a bator! We want to see the photos when you do!

You sure can build one. We've built several. My all time favorite is our Fridge-a-Bator built from one of my sons' old dorm fridges that had a shot compressor. Holds temp and humidity like a charm! The only problem is that I've never been able to get a water heater thermostat to work right and end up using a wafer thermo. But, it's entirely doable to build your own!

thanks so much guys i really am gonna do it and you bet ill be posting pictures as soon as its up and running. NOW IM EXCITED AGAIN! i kinda lost hope for a minute threr but you ladies have a real good way of putting the spark back into it. i cant wait to start maybe i can convince my husband to go to walmart tonight so we can get started

You can do it... I just posted pics from my first hatch in my "Miss Prissy 'Bator".

The first one took a little bit of thought to get it just right, but the second one went together in about an hour. (Yes, we made two.

Go back to the beginning of the thread... I think it's on the first or second page where Miss Prissy lists out all the supplies that she used. We used it as a checklist while searching through the garage for parts. Then went to Home Depot to get the thermostat and lamp-parts, and whatever else we didn't have.
Good luck! It's easy... just follow her directions!

Before you do anything I suggest you go to the library and get a few books on hatching and read, read, read. Then come back with questions and we'll be glad to help you.
