you wont be disappointed, he is making me think i might need some wyandotte eggs from you later this year!! LOL

When my Wyandottes start laying fertile eggs I will start bringing hatching eggs to the swaps! They will be mixed up colors though since I don't have breeding pens to separate my 5 different color hens, plus I really don't think that 5 different roos would be well tolerated here! I might be pushing it with the 2 I plan to have, lol. Right now I'm thinking of keeping the following Wyandottes from my current brood:

1 BLR hen + 1 BLR roo
3 Columbian hens
4 SL hens (and the SL roo)
2 GL hens
3 SP hens

If I could figure out how to make 2 breeding pens I could put the 3 silver varieties in one pen and the BLR and GL in another so there would be less funky colors coming out but I don't think separate breeding pens are a possibility just now.

These will be in with my mixed flock of layers too. The Wyandotte eggs I have seen though are a distinctive color although my barred rock hens lay a similar colored egg. I'm thinking I will figure out a way to separate my 9 current mix of laying hens away from the Wyandottes some days, too, so I know that everything in the nest boxes on those days are from the Wyandottes.

no ones up??

maybe they are all collecting their chickens

We are missing this swap---but for good reason.

I got my lumber and i started building the coop. Really need to get it finished before we get more chickens---my office is already so crowded with cages of chickens! i just stopped construction for a few minutes to nurse my baby girl, then it's back out to the back yard! i love carpentry, but my hands are telling me it's been a while and i'm getting blisters already! The husband is collecting firewood and the older kids are helping us with the little kids.
Hopefully we can make the next swap---they are so much fun!

weekends are MINE all MINE , coop building is for week days ONLY LOL.

i am home, managed to get home with only a few new birds. because so many people liked the look of turtle who went home with gypsy i have decided to give forest back his girls. he will be pleased! we had a good crowd for a first swap in that location.

i have to email her with dates available and i am thinking about april 25th, was that available gypsy??

YEP wide open. its theirs if they want it.
BUT there has to be more advertising.
I think they could have done much better had they promoted more through the store.
tell them chat it up , this is what milford does, chat up the customers and its what makes our swaps so spot on.

I am still a little put off by the attitude of one of the workers but I am sure with a little knowledge she can be better.
forgot to mention , Last milford swap TRIPLED store sale, we are taking over 30 g in sales.

ok o no more typing till the pain killer wears off , lol too many typos.
