Well, here is what happened.
After keeping the two groups separated, I finally reunited everyone into the completed coop when the hurt toe looked fairly healed up. For nearly five days the girls got along perfectly. Not a single problem.
Yesterday it rained really hard and there was a sudden temperature drop. When I went home to check on the girls in the afternoon, I found blood splattered all over the coop and the toe was pecked off AGAIN.
I put the hurt chick (they are about 6-7 wks now) in a carrier cage inside the coop shelter and treated her wound.
My final solution???
GIVING THE **** BARRED ROCKS AWAY!!!!!
I'm dropping them off with someone who answered my posting on Craiglist for free chickens.
Will never buy chicks from a feed store again no matter how nice the staff is. Only ordering from trusted breeders.
