Chick born with defect on face.

Thank you. I️ will do that immediately. Does this chick have a good chance of surviving?
I would guess that with proper treatment, separation from possible peckers, and no appearance of infection, the chick will be fine as long as that's all that's wrong. Of course, she may have a permanent bald spot on her face, but that shouldn't be a big issue.

I agree, the hen most likely pecked the chick. Or another hen, etc. The chick should recover just fine, as long as its away from whoever pecked it.

Thank you for all the helpful responses. I️ will have the care taker put it in a brooder separated. Hopefully will be okay by itself. I️ highly doubt a hen pecked it’s face and caused that much damage. Doubt it.

That's ok. I didn't believe it till I saw it happen either.

There was a post on here a couple days ago or yesterday, seen so many post but it is of a hen that pecked the new chicks wings and body down to the bone. She was hoping to save a couple of them. It was horrible! It does happen and there are pics of it.

Compared to her chicks, yours looks like it can be saved.

Warning! The picture are not for people that are sensitive, Horrible chick mom
It was posted Monday May 28th at 5:09 just so you can see that it does happen. You won't doubt that it happens after viewing that. But I really am sorry about your little chick, it is heartbreaking to see a little one hurt like this and hopefully none of the others that hatch ends up like it.
