Hello:frow
I am getting 4 new chicks this year and currently own 1 golden comet, 1 Production Red, 2 Black Astrolops, 2 Silver Laced Wyandottes, 1 lavender Orpington, and 1 White Plymouth Rock (not quite sure of her breed) and I was wondering what chicken breeds to add to my flock?
Thanks in advance:)

OOHH!!!! I LOVE LAVENDER ORPINGTONS!!!! i am getting some lavender Orpingtons & some black Australorps in may!!!!!!! do you have pics of your lavender Orpington? where did you get her?

I got mine in Colorado Springs and she is very sweet to the other chickens. I think they lay light brown eggs but I can’t keep track of who’s egg is who’s. I’ll make sure to post some pictures soon!:D

It really depends on what you are looking for. All of those breeds are good ones. If you want more brown egg layers, maybe barred Rock, black sex links or Welsummers. Marans are good for very dark brown eggs. And Easter eggers are nice for green or blue eggs and come in many neat mixed colors.

Easter Eggers for green eggs, French Marans for chocolate, Welsummers for dark eggs with spots. Speckled Sussex for tan eggs and super friendly!
In warmer places, Leghorns for white eggs, or any of the Mediterranian breeds.
Mary

Thanks! I will definitely look into speckled Sussex and Welsummers!
