One of my 6 week old chicks has been peeping and chirping super loudly for the past 30 mins. The other bird is not making any noise at all. I’ve made sure its food, water, and temperature is good, but it won’t stop. What’s wrong with it?
Next day edit: whaddya know, she’s back chirping again at bedtime. She will have no light on at night for the first time in her life, hopefully this will make her quiet down

Does it have pasty butt?

Our almost 8 week old OEGB pullet does not like bedtime. When it starts to get dark she will peep on and on and on until she finally settles down. My daughter named her Squeaks and she's living up to her name! 🤣

I have a Cochin who cried incessantly as a chick, wanting to be held. I think she liked the warmth, even though she had sisters to cuddle with and a mama heating pad. Is it possible your chick is a little cold? Or just wants attention?

Heat lamp is relatively low, and I held her a few times and she did not quiet down. If I were a chick, that would calm me right down!

Great name! Does she peep in a distressed way, with long and whiny peeps?

Just checked on her, perfectly fine. I guess she doesn’t like going to bed now! Weirdly she’s been fine sleeping in the coop before, though I’ve had a heat lamp on at night for them. Tonight I will try turning off the light and put a dim flashlight or something like that so they kind of get the memo to go to sleep

Yeah, at six weeks old they should be just fine without a heat lamp.

Silly chicken! Gotta go to bed when mama says so! She must be getting to the rebellious age.
