I was recently suckered into picking up a group of assorted Bantam from the local TSC. For the last two weeks I have been certain that I had two of each kind (OEGB, golden sebrights, and d'uccles). The two that I assumed were sebrights vary pretty greatly in patterning. I just chalked it up to their being hatchery stock until today, when I realized that one of them has what appears to be a single comb. Anyone have experience with single-combed sebrights? Or am I dealing with another breed altogether?

I forgot to add that they are roughly 3 weeks old. I'm not sure it matters, but I wanted to be thorough. If they are both sebrights, any guesses as to sexing? Thanks so much to everyone in advance. I sometimes forget that you aren't all here for the sole purpose of answering my chicken questions.

I have a bunch of these and all mine actually look like they have a single come. Here is a pic. of all mine, I hope u can see them and they are all about 3 weeks old. I'm not sure of when
they will look like a rose come. I also have a pic. the second pic. of my just laying hens and rooster I can tell by my hens neck feathers that she is still kinda young. To tell ya the truth the hens don't even look like they have much of the rose cone.

Oh I forgot, they way I guess mine are to look at the come of both chicks. See which one is bigger & teller and that is usually the rooster, Good Luck w/ ur chickies!

Brilliant! Thank you so much. I certainly don't need any more roos. But to be honest, I wouldn't mind coming out with a pair of these. I only hope they are as lovely as the ones in your picture.

maybe a golden laced old english game bantam, would explain the single comb.
Hmmm...that could very well be, except that I have yet to find pics of gold laced OEGBs that look much like this guy/girl did when I got them. GAH! I am so inpatient. LOL

I had a guy tell me that the Golden Sebright and the Silver Duckwing bantams are actually an Old English Game Bantam Breed. If u take a look at the picture of my rooster look at his legs. He has over an inch of spurs. Id say he could do some damage if he were to get ahold of another rooster. So wether he knows what he was talking about or not, I dont know but I say by the spurs on my roo that he could possibly be correct.

with it being hatchery stock, it is best to assume it is hatchery quality stock throwing faults- this is a sebright with a single comb. Silkies with pink skin, no leg feathering, 4 toes etc are not that uncommon, for example.
