Best tool I've found for keeping chicks entertained is this little spring ball I dug out of the cat/dog toy box.

I have stuffed it with greens, hard boiled egg, veggies, and in this case; leftover salad. Sometimes I set it down and let them roll it, sometimes I hang it.

No clue where it came from, but if you find something similar, I  highly recommend it. It's just a soft, springy ball, like a round slinky, and it has kept my chicks much busier than loose treats.

IMO better entertainment is to simply give them time outside. Especially with chicks, that's a lot of treats percentage-wise to be offering when the bulk of their nutrition should be coming from nutritionally balanced feed.

Also I worry a little that a chick could somehow get a head or wing caught in that while trying to pull out a treat, since you mentioned it's springy. Weirder things have happened. I had a chick kill itself by getting a toe stuck, and it panicked until it died.
