chick-fil-a

I look forward to eating the roos. They are invited to dinner as soon as they start crowing...

At first i thought like that and named all my birds (humanizing them in a way).

Then i had to butcher a rooster (since i ended up with 3 out of 5 of my first chicks being males) which was so hard for me because he (Fred) was a good roo just not leader roo material...

I now have 2 separate flocks- one with names (my ladies and one surviving head roo gilda

) and the food males (8 roos- curse you tractor supply!!!!

My neighbor refuses to eat the "tortured" chicken eggs from commercial, large scale farms. She will only buy organic or free-range at the store.

The other day I went with her to the store and the shelf where the organic eggs were was empty. She asked the staff person if they had any "non-tortured" eggs.

The look she got was priceless and the poor kid was clueless.

I quickly explained that she was looking for organic or free-range eggs.

Can't wait till I get some chickens of my own. A 14 yr-old boy down the road sells farm raised eggs, but he sells out quick and isn't taking any more customers. It started out as a 4-H project for him. He loves his chickens and has 14 of them.
