I was wandering, how much chick grit would go into about a pound of feed?

Thanks in advance.

sprinkle it on like salt. Thats what Murray Mcmurray's chick care says GRIT: Starting the 3rd day sprinkle baby grit on the feed daily as if you were salting your food. Avoid putting too much at any one time as the bird may fill up on it instead of the feed.

I just keep in separate in a little bowl. They will eat it if they need it. It is just little rocks and not actual food so I do not think that it would expire.

Perfectly understandable. If they are in a brooder all the time and are only getting chick feed then they probably don't even need grit. It is just rocks that they collect in their gizzard that work like chicken teeth to grind up food. I start giving it when I move the girls outside. Giving it to them in the brooder won't hurt though and if you start giving them treats it's good to add it.
