TSC does buy vaccinated chicks. They are at least vaccinated against Merek's disease (while still in egg). I think they had said the eggs/chicks were also vaccinated for cocidius too. [**Note - this is what the local to me TSC employees have said. Best to ask your local store for info.]

It could have been a bad batch of chicks with internal birth defects that you would not see/know about.

Could have been what I call a birth infection. Something that started at their birth or shortly after birth. Those are hard to detect until they crash with it.

It's hard to know.

Omphalitis would have shown up and caused death much earlier, within the first 2 weeks. Bloody stool is not a sign of this. Most likely the chicks had sudden onset of coccidiosis.
