Chick has choked on something and tongue has slipped down the throat...

Congrats on finding the string!

The lump...are you sure this isn't just a full crop?

Hi Texas, the lump has gone down a lot, I'm assuming it was just swelling from the tongue/trachea being pulled away from the area. The lump was to the beak's left just under it's "jawline". Will try take some more photos of the chick to see if it shows in the photo.

Update:
The chick is doing really well and has gained 102 grams since the cotton was pulled out. I filmed the eating and clearly Blondie is eating well and still very active like before the cotton incident.

It is awesome to see the chick doing so well as I thought it was going to go bye bye.

Hi all,
Thought I would update again on this chicken. She has become a huge fluffy bum hen and gives an egg a day about the size she hatched from which is quite small - but still an egg yay! Blondie is very mischievous and jumps over fences to eat our tomato and pea crop, but we forgive her cause she's gorgeous. She tends to be very dramatic when we put hands in front of her even when offering food and can give a nasty peck leaving bruises. I think maybe she remembers our hands trying to get the string out?!

Anyway, here she is now at 6 months old. Wyandotte father and possibly bantam or orpington mother.
