This is my first post on any bird forum, hope I don't mess up!
is there a plumage difference, according to gender, in chicks between 1-3 days old? Particularly in Partridge Wyandottes? We ordered a straight run of partridge, and we need to know which are roos and hens. I can't wait, we are also getting gold and silver laced wyandottes!! they arrive April 6th. my sister is ChickenKick (she does karate) Thanks!

Wyandottes are not a sex-link breed so the pullets and cockerels look the same as babies. You have to wait until they develop some before you will see differences in the combs. You know for sure when some of your little ones start crowing.

LOL. You know what? I think our free rare is an SSH roo. Like you got, Firedove. hopefully we'll be keeping him. I also think we didn't get any roos in the partridge group, which would be strange. But I like SSH roos better than partridge roos anyway.
