Easter eggers aren't direct crosses of ameraucana and araucana. Easter eggers have some ameraucana and araucana in them, but most Easter eggers are EE x EE. Since their is so much genetic variance in EEs, there are many egg colors and feather colors they can have, and they can have muffs and beards or not.Actually yes they always should an Easter egger is a cross between an Ameraucana and an aracauna those both have beards and one has a hood you can’t breed that for ex punnet squares it’s alwa dominate you can’t have two purebred beard birds make a non bearded bird it doesn’t work that way
Thank you, this is helpful information. I think that are old English game bantams, and the grey leg color would be correct for that. They are bantams btw.
There is no such thing as a "true" Easter egger. Easter eggers are hybrid birds that lay colored eggs. There is not specific cross that can make Easter eggers. Any chicken that lays colored eggs crossed to any other chicken will make Easter eggers. Most Easter eggers you can buy at hatcheries just have some ameraucana in them, which gives some but not all those easter eggers beard and muffs. Then it’s not a true Easter egger true Easter eggars are Ameraucanas and aricanas they should always have beards if you want a true one I could go breed a white egger and a Ameraucana and call it an Easter egger but true Easter eggers have a muff and beard the feather color doesn’t make them the breed it’s the genetics a true Easter egger is Ameraucana x aracauna
Perfectly said. You can't have a purebred mix. I have a bantam EE, and two full size EE that are beardless and muffless. There is no such thing as a "true" Easter egger. I'm just wondering, have you ever seen an Araucana before? They don't have beards (in the US, they don't have muffs. They have tufts, and only some of them do. The tuft gene is deadly when both parents have the tuft gene. Then it’s not a true Easter egger true Easter eggars are Ameraucanas and aricanas they should always have beards if you want a true one I could go breed a white egger and a Ameraucana and call it an Easter egger but true Easter eggers have a muff and beard the feather color doesn’t make them the breed it’s the genetics a true Easter egger is Ameraucana x aracauna
ameracauna and aracauna are two completely different birdsI'm just wondering, have you ever seen an Araucana before? They don't have beards (in the US, they don't have muffs. They have tufts, and only some of them do. The tuft gene is deadly when both parents have the tuft gene.
Although, different countries have a different SOP for them, so sometimes they may have a tail or a beard. Her are some pictures of my Araucana. One hen and one Roo. In the background you'll see what looks like a CCL, but he is a cross. His dad was an Araucana, and him mom was a CCL. The one with a tail is a golden comet.
I'm aware. What does that have to do with what you've been talking about though? You stated Ameraucana and Araucana. The previous posts you stated that both have beards and muffs.Amera
