Hi, I have some Silkie chicks that were hatched two days ago and one of the chicks kinda has one eye shut and keeps on swallowing. I noticed there is liquid in it's mouth or throat and it's like the chick keeps on trying to swallow it down and it won't stay down.
Any ideas? Should i give it some Duramycin-10 in the water? If so, what would the dosage be for a quart size waterier?

Thanks

It sounds like they might not be drinking very well, you might need to get the eye dropper and help a little if they start to fail..they sell packets of electrolytes with and feeds with anti-ciocci meds that give chicks a good start , most farm and tractors keep them in med department. Manna pro makes a very good feed with , Its sort of like a feed innoculation for that disease. I always keep antibiotic packs around as a just in case... If electrolyts dont perk them up then one or 2 might need to be isolated and given the antibiotic in water..I know the dosage is confusing on the packet, I had always wished it said 2 tablespoons to a gallon instead of metric mesurment
