I got a day old chick, seperated her from the rest. she keeps falling over. I am thinking its all her toes point forward. Its on both feet, the toe that points backwards isnt pointing backwards. She stands, steps and tumbles. She is on paper towls.
I have pics but having computer issue.
was wondering can I splint the foot with a band aid so all the toes are pointing in right direction.
thanks
Ryan

You can. I would add some vitamins/minerals/electolyte (comes in a pack) in the water because some defeciances cause that. Good Luck!

Here's a good description from Chickensioux:

Place his foot on a bandaid (sticky side up) placing the toes straight as they should be. Put another bandaid on top and make sure it sticks in between the toes. Cut to shape like a shoe. But not in between the toes. Make sure you change it often if it gets too wet or poopy. Do this until the toes remain straight on their own. May take several days or more depending on how crooked they are.

I know I've seen a photo of this done, but can't seem to find it.

OOh here's some excellent info:

thank yall.
I splinted but think there may been other things wrong also. Since being seperated it only went bathroom twice and was not as active as the other chicks. This morn it was dead. Sucks, but since this is my first time I thought Id lose more, so one is exceptable.
thank yall

Sounds like something just wasn't right with this chick and there was absolutely nothing you could have done. Just think about all your healthy chicks.
