Hi I’ve been incubating some silkier eggs for 21 days now and one pipped yesterday but it still hasn’t made a crack or anything. What should I do?

After my experience, I say carefully pinhole the egg on the fat end, being bday careful not to disrupt activity or injure chick. You can see inside the pinhole and determine what to do next--wait, or help a teensy bit more at a time.

I did all the research and didn't intervene when I was just sure something was wrong. I eggtopsied 2 eggs to find that one chick was breech (head in the pointy end) and I wish I would have been able to help because it was beautiful and otherwise healthy--it just couldn't pip at that angle. The other chick after eggtopsy, I could clearly see that it's yolk sac hadn't absorbed because the chord was twisted. Both had lots of movement and chirping. Now, I know that I likely couldn't have saved that one--it would have surely died anyway worth intervention but I'm convinced that had I assisted the breech chick, with thoughtful assist that I'd have saved it. I'd include more details but just want to share that if you're on here asking, you are having a gut reaction to assist and I'm now a form believer that if the gut speaks, we should listen. If you make sure you know how to assist first tho--there's great videos on youtube and advice on here about how to assist properly. :)

Hi yeah it worked and she/he is hatching but the bottom part of its mouth is split?? Is she/he gonna be ok?

The top and bottom part of the mouth don’t align. She is a feisty one and very loud. I think she is almost out of her shell. It’s cross beak.

Awe! Take pics when she's out. Make sure that the membrane is moist to help her. I'm going to guess right away that if her beak doesn't look right--that's why she couldn't pip!!! So you'll have to let us see pics of her beak more clearly when she's out so we can help figure things out for you. She may have a birth defect--but let's see what we can do to support it!

Ah I’m not sure but I think she doesn’t have a second eye. Becuase her other eye is open and her other one is closed with fur on it.
