Chick pipped but not hatching

Umm how would I go with feeding her and also, she cant move, she has trouble balancing and falls down. What can I do?

I just wanted to chime in on crossbeak. This is one of my rescues, Cookie. She’s a silkie/Cochin bantam & has crossbeak. She eats perfectly fine, no issues there. I love her little face SO much!! It makes her unique in her own special way. Even if you can’t get your chicks beak sorted, she should live a long healthy life otherwise. ❤️ Even my husband loves Cookie & her sweet little face.

First of all, newborn chicks can go up to 4 days without food, as they've absorbed their yolk, which is what sustains them. The most important nutrient is water. They need water within 8 hours or so (or, when they're completely dry / transferred into the brooder from incubator). The links that I sent you both explained that you should expect to have to help feed her since she can't really help herself right now. You should mix up some chick starter mix with water--like a runny cereal--you can add in by mixing protein, including scrambled egg :0, mealworms--soft forms of protein that you can mush in with the mix. The articles also said that the added protein may actually help to correct the cross beak.

So, then you can maybe use a spoon, but it would be better if you had either a fat syringe that you could drip the contents into her beak, or something that generally allows you to scoop up the mush for her since she can't really do that with her beak situation.

Same with water, I'd suggest that you try to dropper water into her beak--and, it would be best if you had the electrolyte powder in the water that you feed her, to also support her nutritional deficiencies.

I'm SURE that her wobbly-ness is from being just born. None of our chicks could really stand up until 8-12 hours after birth, after being dried, after getting into the brooder, then they tumble over and step on each other for 2 weeks. So, I'd not worry about the wobbly-ness for a couple days. Plus, if she can only see out of one eye--that will definitely affect her balance.

You can upload short videos in a post if you want, to share her behavior and mannerisms to see if anyone can give a diagnosis or make other suggestions.

You're doing a GREAT job! I can only imagine what you're going through! She just needs lots of love right now, and some of your help :)
