Chick with broken leg-Can I save her?

We have a chick with a busted leg, she can't walk. Well she can kinda walk but mostly sits. I don't know what to do?
Can we save her? Should we splint her leg?
I feel so badly since I believe the injury was due to a well meaning 5-year old. She was told not to pet but only look at the chicks but...
anyway the bird was fine before and I feel partly responsible, but I dont want to continue torturing the animal, if it wont improve.
anyone have experience with this?
What have you done or seen done ?

I had a chick break a leg, and other than making sure temps were warm not being picked on and she was eating and drinking I left her alone. 2 weeks and she was fine -- fortunately they grow FAST at that age and that also means they heal fast.
