Well, it looks a smidgeon better just from the terrymican. We had a debate today about wiping it out again and I caved. Tomorrow if it looks like gunk still on there I think I need to keep wiping that stuff off? It’s almost like a scab but is puss yellowish so I think my instincts are right.

Have you tried to apply any pressure to it? Can’t help thinking of zit squeezing. You might be surprised what comes out. Start at the edges away from the eye. You might not have to cut anything. Make sense?

Got a photo. I’m thrilled with the progress and even swear I see this little guy watching me with that eye. Amazing!! Still pretty swollen but it’s better.

We have a bit but it’s been like a hard know and pushing hard on the teeny eyeball is incredible hard for me to do. It just hasn’t felt like it’s moving at all.

It is looking better. But it appears there's still pus that needs to come out so he can heal the rest of the way. You might be able to encourage the pus to squirt out by inserting a gloved finger into the left side of his beak through the slit in the roof of his mouth nearest his beak and putting pressure on the swollen spot from inside his mouth. Look at the photo of inside an open chicken mouth to see the slit I'm referring to.

He’s so small I would choke him if I put my finger in his mouth. He’s a bantam Cochin and only about a month old. My finger wouldn’t fit. I know there’s still puss in there. It won’t heal until it’s forced out?

Stupid me. I should have considered his tiny size. My brain isn't eight track like it used to be. You could use a Q-tip, but I have a feeling you don't want to risk it. As long as you aren't pushing on the eyeball, you really shouldn't worry about hurting the eye. Just apply pressure to the puffy tissue around the eye.

You do need to try again to get the last of the pus out. It will greatly expedite healing. I think eventually he may absorb the pus, but it's full of bacteria and it's not the wisest decision to just leave it as it is. If he was on an oral antibiotic, you could probably let it resolve on its own.

Oregano oil is fine for boosting the immune system to help prevent illness. But don't expect it to take the place of an antibiotic. You can probably find injectible penicillin at most feed stores.

I would also cover with a bandaid the best you can. The light hurts, the air hurts, and needed.
