Chick with eyes stuck shut?

I’ve got a chocolate Orpington chick that been getting its eyes stuck shut a lot. It started happening a couple weeks ago and I just thought it might be a cold or too dusty in the brooder. So I tried changing the substrate from shaving to a stringy hay with very little dust and added vitamins and electrolytes to the water.

I haven’t seen any improvements so I’m starting to think it’s something else and am reaching out for any ideas. I don’t hear any wheezing and there’s no discharge/bubbles or sneezing. I’ve been having to go out and gently wipe them open at least twice a a day. It’s eating nature wise chick starter crumble and bedding. Any advice could be helpful.

She has conjunctivitis (pink eye.) That can be due to mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG, CRD) or something very irritating to her eyes, such as ammonia fumes from droppings. I would go ahead and treat for possible MG. Flush her eyes with saline or eye wash, and use a warm wet compress to moisten the stuck eyes. Apply either Terramycin eye ointment or plain Neosporin to each eye twice a day. Tylosin powder in the water or Denagard can help treat symptoms of MG. Here is where I have bought Tylosin before, and dosage is 1 tsp per gallon of water for 5 days.
