Hi All,
Well, I was hoping that my first post would be on a positive note.
As I was doing my evening chores I noticed this chick in the brooder. I'm hoping someone may be able to enlighten me on what this could be. It is a French Black Copper Maran that I hatched out on 11/30. So that makes it about 21 days old now. It has a total of 6 raised lesions that look like they have been oozing from the center. It must have come on fairly suddenly because I didn't notice it until today. None of the other chicks in the brooder have this going on yet. But, I'm very concerned whether or not I should cull it and them. I have other chicks in other brooders right now and more hatching everyday. The chick is isolated as of now.
All the other chicks are in the garage. I'm using newspaper and paper towels for their litter and disposing it every day or two. They are on medicated chick starter and Vi-Tal in the water. I do have other chickens, ducks, turkeys outside. This chick has never had contact with them. I am right now fighting a case of biting lice with the poultry outside.
ANY IDEAS???
Heidi
