I have a chick that has a problem walking, it limps on one leg. He hatched out this a way in the incubator with that one leg he doesn't want to put pressure on. I did put a bandaid on its toes to correct them being curled up.
Today though I noticed that on that leg he limps on, the hock area is a little swollen and theirs a tiny hole there, I think the skin broke a little bit around the hock area. Will this cut area heal up on its own?
I really want him to get better.
Should I put something on it like vaseline and wrap it up with something?

Thank You for any suggestion!!

I've had some like that. I put neosporine, the kind with out pain relief, on it then straightened it out slightly and then wrapped it with vet wrap in that position . Make sure it can still lay down. Some get better ...others may not. Best Wishes.

Thank you chicken zoo for replying!

I don't have neosporine, but I have this Nexcare no sting liquid bandage and this cream called Triple Antibiotic Ointment it does say its for cuts and scrapes. I'll try these and wrap it up in first aid cloth. I'm hoping this will help

Thank You Again!

Becareful with anything containing pain relief or no sting, as it can be dangerous for chickens. Use the triple antibiotic, same as neosporine. Hope it gets better for you.

Thanks chickenzoo, Yes I did use the triple antibiotic cream today. He doesn't seem too bad today, still eating and drinking so I can't complain. I'm doing everything I can to give him the best chance of surviving.

I appreciate it!
