I could never batch my own eggs for this reason. It would terrify me if something went wrong and god forbid I lose any. My hats go off to all you men and women that choose to hatch your own babies! I just couldn't bare losing one of going through a thing like this! It's hard enough on me when one of my animals is sick or injured. My animals are my children.

So little Skunk is still alive... keeps trying to stand, has drank some water when I dipped her beak in it but won’t eat food (even food with water mixed in to make it mushy)... I thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers. I’ve tried to let her stand but she can’t really hold her head up when standing. But seems to be stronger by being able to hold her head up when laying down. The swelling in either it’s brain, or tumor, or whatever it is has seemed to go down. I’m taking it in to the emergency vet my friend works at this evening.

It's hard to imagine a good ending to this, but I still root for the little guy - it just breaks my heart when the little ones start off life with the odds stacked against them. Unfortunately, Nature is not so sentimental.

So when I took little skunk to the vet they thought that was it was it’s brain that was exposed... so we put her to sleep. She’s now buried in the front yard. Thank you all again for your support! Loving the byc community right now for everything
