Chick with rasping breath (rales), diarrhea with blood

Got it--I'm going out to get some Corid right now. I don't know what form they've got, but as soon as I get it, I'll post from my phone and hopefully get some guidance so that I can dose everyone the moment I get back.

THANK YOU! I love this community! And I WILL follow up.

I'll keep this one in isolation somehow. The garage is hot. Maybe I'll leave her in the house in a box. Yes, I think I will.

I
Dog gone it! I thought I was totally prepared! I have Fenbendazole, Albendazole, Amoxicillin, Cephalexin, and Ivermectin all on hand. Will any of those do it? Calling around about Corid...
Oh no. I hate that! I am so sorry! You've got awesome dewormers and antibiotics but for this you need a coccidiostat specifically. Amprolium or a sulfonamide (different class of antibiotic) are the only treatment-effective meds.
Here is an article about cocci for more info: https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/coccidiosis-how-to-treat-it.64386/

YAY! You are an awesome chickie mama! Sorry for all the cross-posts! Your little one is in my thoughts and prayers! Also, if you see this in time, I would absolutely pick up some medicated starter for the rest of your chickies...so they hopefully don't pick up the infection, too. Medicated starter contains amprolium in prophylactic doses.

Here is a dosing graphic!

I’m here. They have Corid 20% soluble powder. Picking it up!

I’m wondering if I should put it in the water for all of the chicks. They are using the converted hospital coop and run. I cleaned it with a bleach and soap solution and then added a pyrethrum/Neem oil/ Castile soap solution to try to smother anything that might have overwintered in there. i’m just wondering if I ought to administer the corid to all.

I also picked up medicated crumbles. I’ll start feeding that to everyone, including the teenagers in the run that is adjacent to the babies. However, I have 3 guineas in that run. Can they eat the medicated crumble?

Okay, Corid 20% Soluble Powder at 1/2 t per gallon of water is in the works! Thanks so much, @HenniesInMyHeart !! I'm going to treat all the babies (4 weeks old, actually) because they live in such close quarters.

I need to see if the guineas can take it. If so, I'll treat the teenagers, too.
