Chick with skin ripped off (WARNING! GRAPHIC PIC ADDED!)

The wound is about 3/4 of an inch wide, a swath of raw skin so there's no pulling anything together. The boy tried to turn himself into a Turken, LOL. I dont know how Olivia will handle her baby missing. It's good she has the two SLW babies to concentrate on.

Hey Speck....I had a hen with the same thing. I know that someone wont like what I am going to say but it worked for me. I cleaned it out with perioxide and then slathered it with neosporin. I did this for a few days and then I just continued with the neosporin. I was concerned about flies and I didn't want them getting into the wound. I tried to wrap it when it first happened....that was a joke. It took about 2 weeks for it to really heal, but my hen is fine now. Her feathers never did grow back right, but she is fine.

Kinda nice giving you advice.....thanks for that!

Hi Cyn, I've had that happen to one of my Turkens before.I ended up doing the same as you & she's just fine. It's amazing how fast they can heal from a wound like that.
Hope the little guy gets better soon.

LOL, no, thank you! I think little Mace will be okay and I'll just keep the Neosporin on the wound. Hes in the plastic temp brooder on top of the diningroom table and he's sitting on a stuffed monkey, very quiet. Hopefully, he'll not peep too much tonight. I sure hope his feathers do grow back, though-that's his hackle area, poor thing!

On the dining room table!!!!poor baby! ha ha We do spoil these chickens dont we! Turn on some quiet music and give him a little wine.....he'll be fine! ha ha

Uh, oh, is it me? My poor honey! He's in mortal danger, most likely, as witnessed by all my roosters' troubles!
