I wish someone more familiar with chicks would come in. I've had many chicks but never had something like this. Makes me think of an abscess which could be drained. But I don't want to tell you to do this and it not be one.
Has it gotten bigger?

not really it's just stayed the same.... but the chick seems fine and is eating and drinking well

That's good to hear. Maybe it will absorb on it's own but hopefully some more experience with this sort of thing will be here soon.
