Chick with swollen bugged out eyes

I hatched a chick just like that. I applied warm camamile tea to her eyes with a qtip like the doc recommended but she ended up just being blind and passing away sadly because she wouldn't eat. It wouldn't hurt to try the tea. I really hope it's not your case. Good luck

Ms. Mania I am sorry for your loss of Tweety and hope Doodle comes through for you. My other chick-kids look good so far, and I will be leaving them on antibiotics for a few more days, just to be safe.

Blindchix, thank you for your reply and advice, but my little guy is gone and I'm shifting my focus to the remaining 14 chicks, plus 9 adult Bantys, 14 adult chickens, 10 14 week old balck sex links and 11 4 month old Easter Eggers.

My guess would be glaucoma, and if that's the case, there's not a thing you could have done. Yes, chicks can be born with glaucoma, and it almost always ends up fatal, especially with that amount of swelling. You gave the little sweetie love and did your best to care for it, and that's the best any of us could do.
