I am resurrecting this thread as I am picking up the “boogies” (as the breeder likes to call them) on Sunday. I think a big woot woot is in order.

the brooder is the bathtub. They can just move over when I have to shower (KIDDING). I am building the coop and the run concurrently as they grow. I picked up the 6 x 4 x 10’ solid white oak lumber from the saw mill today. these four beams will be the foundation base on an old driveway, built in 1972.

I cannot imagine in my wildest dreams that any animal could dig into this packed gravel. Heck, I can’t dig down an inch with a spade the gravel is packed so hard.

Reality check needed here And all comments welcome! i think the packed gravel would be safe against predators.

I'd still apron out some hardware cloth around coop/run, as a precaution. Just dump more gravel over the top to hide the wire.
