But if not and for those who don't, it means Laugh Out Loud. Like when something's really funny. But my high school English teacher used to think it was Lots Of Love and text her kids that

So now that I have the abbreviations down, the next step is to figure out what to do about ovation....

I never know if you're supposed to respond or send them one back or?

Sometimes they don't say anything with it or it's just thanks or something and not really a conversation starter but SOMETIMES it seems like it should be a conversation and I have a hard time

Ovations are supposed to be given when someone said something really helpful. No I don't think you should give them back. But it does help the receiver if you make a comment about what was helpful to you. I know what you mean about learning the edicate though!
