Chicken ate my earrings. Need advice.

I'm a new chicken person so I wasn't fully aware of how dumb I was to continue wearing my diamond studs daily while handling chickens.

I was cuddling with my 9 week BR and feeding it treats when it just snatched my earring right out of my ear and while I was freaking out about that it got the other one too.

My husband thinks it's a roo and wants to kill it immediately!
He's been tolerant of my chickens up to this point but he's really mad now y'all.

I have it in a seperate area away from the other chickens with plenty of food, treats and water and am hoping that the earrings will pass quickly.

Does anyone have any experience with this? How long does it take? What kind of complications or symptoms should I watch for? How do I calm my husband down?
Oh wow! One of my 14 week old chicks shocks me every so often by trying to eat the mole on my neck! Ouch!

I'm sure you'll see your 'chocolate diamonds' soon enough. I just hope they don't 'cut your chicken up' before it's cooked!

Hi Linny,
Did you ever get your earring back? How long does it take?
My chick just ate mine yesterday :(

Did you ever get than back

I can see it now if it was my situation: chicken doesn't poop out earring, I decide I will get the earring back one day when the chicken dies!, Chicken lives many years until its snatched by a coyote, me chasing coyote trying to get my earring back. This could turn bad :he
I wish I had time to finish reading this thread, I came here because I am currently in the same situation.. well not really. I get to keep one of my earrings for now. No not only do I know it's not necessarily a death sentence & I'm not the only one to have this happen and the scenario you just lined out sounds like something that would happen in my world and it gave me a good laugh, thank you. I needed that! So I'm going to get my girl some fruit and get back to what needs done around here. She was already in the house recuperating from a dog attack[not my dog]. She was almost ready to go outside and I was going to get my bathroom back... This might have been her plan....
I hope you got your earring back and you didn't have to chase down a danger dog.
