Chicken attacked by Osprey severely injured

Thank you for clarifying this! I did find myself wondering if it had been mistaken.

Sorry for your experience.. thank you for doing your best to help her! :hugs

I'm sure the vet will give you something for pain relief.. but it's worth mentioning that IF you're gonna "boil" cannabis for pain relief.. it is fat, glycerin, or alcohol/solvent soluble.. but will not effectively be extracted in water (unless iced), though it may still have some efficacy.. Also standard cannabis will be extracting THC which causes the "high" effect. CBD *more* often alleged to alleviate pain.. is best extracted without the THC from hemp. For informational purposes ONLY.

Many of us use low dose aspirin once we're sure it won't cause even more problems.

Avian pain relief

Hope to see a pic her recovering nicely! :fl

Yes we were honestly in a pinch, and as I grow my own herb we figured boiling it will extract enough in the moment to calm her down& relief some pain so she can rest up easier, basically like a tea. It did the trick in a pinch as I have some strong, strong stuff and her little body wouldn't need much.

To release trichomes, yes it does need to be iced in water, filtered through screen and scraped off screens, and that several times, which ultimately turns it into hash, or whatever someone wants to make out of it at the end.
I wait quite some time before harvesting my flowers, so the trichomes are mainly 'brown/orange' (which contains more CBD, couch lock effect), than the cloudy trichomes which contain more THC (hyper effect).
I did not have a CBD strain on hand at the moment, but instead a medicinal strain which is White Rhino...

I did not want to use Aspirin in this particular case, as it thins blood and could have caused more issues in her case with an open wound like this.

I truly appreciate your feedback tho :)

She's back and survived the vet visit!

Doing quite well, eating and drinking just fine, very feisty little girl. Apparently she even laid an egg 🤭

They did a fantastic job on her, didn't think that enormous open wound could be surtured up that nicely 🙂

I was guessing it was a hawk. We have all kinds of flying birds here. And live by 2 lakes. The eagles mostly go for ducks. I have lived here 27 years and only lost 2 chickens, a rooster and a hen, to hawks. One even sat on the fence surrounding the coop watching while I was standing there.

Ospreys eat fish as far as I know.

My chicken was bitten badly by a dog. I keep would clean, cut feathers back and kept her inside in a wired dog cage. She did heal but the other chickens would attack her when reunited. Not sure why.
