My friend is brand new to chickens, and she's been brooding 4 chicks together for 10 weeks now. 2 black Austarlorps, a Buff orp, and an EE.

The run finally got finished and she put them all out in the coop and run together. The EE started attacking the black Austarlorps and causing bleeding around their beaks. The BO is smart enough to stay out of the mess and is doing fine. My friend is beside herself on what to do.

She's took the EE out for now and put her by herself. They've been together since they where little and just now, as they get put into a nice big place the EE starts to attack. What's up with this? What can be done? Help?

I guess the EE actually pecked off the tip of one of the Black Australorps beaks, and she can't get the bleeding to stop. I told her to see if that stuff you use to stop dogs nails from bleeding might help. Any other ideas?

Well Lisa, now that you are on the board and can read this yourself, and all the really smart people must be on vacation

I'm thinking when you get ready to put the EE back in the coop, maybe you should make sure you can be there with a big UZI squirt gun. When she goes for the others, squirt her. That's about all I can think of right off hand. I've honestly never had to deal with a real dangerous meany like yours. Also, give them some treats or something to distract them from attacking each other. Pieces of corn cob, or something to keep them busy.
