Chicken Babysits Broody's Nest

So...

Chick 5 hatched...

But. I found it chilled, out of the nest.

Do broodys reject chicks? It must have just hatched; it was still wet. All other four chicks are doing fine hidden under their mommy's rear.

Anyone knows why this happened?

And how should I em... dispose of it?

Could be something was wrong with it.
I'd toss them in the trash, that small, maybe in a paper bag.
You could burn it if you want.

I will burn the chick, give it a proper funeral. I put it in a small ring box. The ground is frozen so I won't burry it. RIP little chick

I’m so sorry for your loss! She is a good mama and she knows what she was doing. It may be hard for us, but she knows what she is doing

Not if something is wrong with the chick. It’s sad but nature can be cruel sometimes.

Eh, hard to say.....maybe she couldn't reach him and wouldn't leave the number one priority-live chicks and eggs in nest.
May never know for sure.
