Chicken Barn HELP

I also wouldn't think that you would need to toss the eggs during this time, because mousy of these things are topical and not applied to the eggs themselves

The white wash Idea is a good one but give me one minute Ill sap the fly spray. You need the permthrin and pymitryin. one is a contact killer and the other is a risidual killer. rember mites live in the walls and cracks. Dust the girls with seven (which I love but cant get easyly, used it for years ) directly. I lock them in at night and in the morning I pull them out at 5:30 dust and release outside, but leave the coop locked up. Then you have to empty the coop and spray it down heavy and leave them locked out for the day. Mights are not lice and can and do live off the birds. Lice will die in less then 12 hours off the bird where mites will live for I belive 7 days off the bird.

I think red poultry mites cab live a long long long time with no host

Make so birds can get out and dust themselves regularly. That activity in itself with help control mites. You can play around with dust bath materials and may not even need to use pesticides. A silty loam with a little potting soil and wood ash seems to be the magic mix for my birds. Make so it stays relatively dry but is also exposed to direct sun during times birds are interested in dust bathing.

My birds have a nice dust bath of ash DE and sand in a three foot deep whole in my sandly loam soil, and its right in the sun all day. I used DE for three weeks with no results. Mites live in walls and dusting will not get rid of them, and lice seem to be uneffected by DE. The Fly spray is "ultra Sheild EX" and you can buy it at any equine store or tsc or co-op. good luck so far im 6 days mite free. Ill do a close look on every one tomorow morning as thats the best time to find mites cuz they come out at night while the birds try to sleep. and Ill dust with louse powder to enuse any lice hatching in the next round will not survive to lay again!.
I tryed to load the pick but the site wouldnt take it. Ill try again latter

Give dust bathing method more time. If reinfection coming from actual structure, then what is resource needed to close life cycle beyond birds to suck on?

Permethrin is found in eggs and meat when applied topically to birds, tho this doesn't say what level are toxic to humans....

...it's also extremely toxic to bees.

I have bees and like my native pollinators. Also partial to other insects. It is hard to control drift with some pesticides, especially they powders and sprays when conditions otherwise dusty.
