chicken bleeding near eyes

Hi,

I'm looking for some ideas on what happened to my chicken. She has a lot of blood around her eyes. I would have thought she was attacked but a) she's wheezing, b) her quarters seem very secure and I have no idea what could have gotten to her, and c) the blood is identical on both eyes. Could one of my other chickens be responsible for senseless violence? Or is she ill?? Any thoughts appreciated from you veterans.

I agree, she must’ve gotten injured or in a scuffle with another flock member.

Thank you both! I cleaned her up last night and she seems much happier today.

That's great to hear! Just keep the wounds clean to prevent infection from entering.
