Chicken blood is like jelly??????

I have the stuff ordered and it's on fast delivery should arrive on or before the 3rd of March, they have never been wormed so it it a possibility that worms are a cause? ( they are my partners dads, after a divorce both of his parents refused to care for them so me and my partner took on the responsibility ) there are rats under the shed that they sleep in and the conditions were filthy were the poo was never scrapped up, could the rats have something to do with it, we have poison and traps down
I would say it was those birds lucky day when parents divorced, you will start to notice a difference in your chickens after they have been properly cared for, good thing these birds have you and your partner to look after them.

Yes,filthy conditions with poop everywhere can cause among other things respiratory issues from buildup of ammonia, can cause burns to feet from ammonia and harbour parasites. Rats carry parasites which spread to birds.

Definitely get rid of rats, just make sure chickens have no access to poison. I would suggest worming your chickens also.

You can see the difference already they all come running to the door when they hear you coming and the only thing that comes to my mind is " well someone's hungry" but they have loads of food left so they must just be excited for company. I'm willing to try anything and vent gleet does sound right, ill get some supplies today

Would it be okay to worm them and give them the treatment in there water?
Yes,you can do both,as cocci meds(Coxoid)is only a thiamine blocker, parasite needs thiamine to survive/reproduce,coxoid(amprolium)blocks thiamine from body stopping reproduction and bringing parasite back under control. Most birds do have some coccidiosis in their intestines, only becomes a problem when they get out of control/overload.

After your girls have finished their worm and cocci meds, give them vitamins(not until coxoid treatment is complete,5-7 days) or probiotics.

Neglected to ask what worming meds you are using as some worm medications are not as effective. Also is the worm medications you are using an oral one or is it placed in water? My understanding by post, was that you are using an oral wormer, perhaps i misunderstood post?

They haven't been wormed yet, I'm need to order some, I don't think oral would be a good idea as 2 of the guinea fowls have never be handled unless it's dark and they can't see, there is pellets or a solution called verm-x or x-verm that I'm considering,I'm also doing what that link said sounds stupid but where it says she could have thrush would it help to get some human one and dilute it in water and spray it on the area?

To my knowledge verm x is a herbal wormer and i do not think it has been proven to be all that effective or licensed as a wormer.

PM dawg53 he is very knowledgeable regarding worm medications and can suggest which wormer would be appropriate for your girls,as this will be the first time they have been wormed.

For vent gleet any anti fungal cream such as monistat, canestan, etc can be used on vent.

IF you're going to worm your birds, use flubenvet, not verm-x.

I agree with Dawg53 about using Flubenvet1%. It is added to the feed for 1 week, there is no egg withdrawal, and it is the only licensed wormer in the UK, but treats all chicken worms. Verm-X is an "all natural" wormer of multiple herbs, and it probably is a waste of money.

Thank you all of you, treatment starts tomorrow so once I've got a proper look at he area, I'll trim the feathers wash it, give it some Epsom salts to prevent straining when pooing. I'll get some thrush cream and apply it around the area, I'm going to feel so bad if I got my old chicken put to sleep when doing this could have saved her, I'm not trusting vets again
