Chicken Breed Focus - Cochin

Ok I have a Cochin .. This is her first set of eggs to sit on .. 3 has hatched and she has left the rest to feed the 3 that hatched. I went to check her eggs and noticed one was pipping out .. I had to get it out the egg because I also noticed there was three flys in there with it while it was still alive .. Did I do the right thing will it make it.. It's been a few hours since I got it out and it's still a live .. I was scared the flys that got inside the egg would kill it and I was only thinking off getting the flys off the still living chick .. Did I do wrong ?? !!
Is mama back on the nest and the one you helped under her? As long as the yolk sac was absorbed hopefully it will be okay.

Yes ma'am.. Nothing was in the egg except the chick .. Feather foot ( the mom ) didn't want the chick at first .. She was pecking at it's head so I took it back out .. I done my best to dry it off and Tried again she took it in the second time and it's walking around .. But there is still more eggs that need to hatch .. One is pipping yet again .. Why is it so much space between the hatch.. I'm trying to keep her on the nest with the eggs but I understand she has to feed the ones that have hatched.. How do I do this if she don't want to stay on the nest in the day time

I keep my moms and chicks inside with food and water close by that way if she does get up she is still close to the eggs that haven't hatched yet and she can show her first to hatch where food and water are. plus maybe others laid in her nest over several days so she now has a staggered hatch.I usually keep my mama and chicks inside for at least a week to give chicks a chance to get strong and learn who mam is real good. I talking about inside the coop they are in stalls till everyone gets let out in the morning then I let mama and chicks have the run of the coop for the day with the door closed.

Thank you I will get her a coop .. She has been fee on the yard .. She is mine and my three children's .. We got her .. I know crazy but for a pet .. My children can pet her while she is laying when she pecks everyone who comes near .. So will it be ok to just move her the eggs and the baby's to a pin ..

Mine start off in a nest box off the floor in the coop so right after their chicks hatch I move mom and chicks to a stall I set up food and water in there for them and they stay in there for a week. I have 2 hens now with chicks so one hen with the 2 week olds get the run of the coop with door closed and my mama with the 3 day olds is still in her stall this way everything is close by and mama can still have room to move around. They don't seem in a hurry to leave although my mom with the 2 week olds has had hers outside but right now we're having some work done on our house so she has to stay in with her chicks to keep them safe. I'd give your hen a few more days on the new nest and pen candle the remaining eggs to see if anything is happening in there you may just need to get rid of the remaining eggs if they aren't fertile or not going to hatch. That way she is free to take care of the ones that have. Good luck and let us know how it all goes. I pick up babies first and put them in the stall then take mom to it.

usually the chicks are peeping so loud mom is ready to snuggle in there with them.
