Chicken Breed Focus - Leghorn

me ... Tractor Supply shipped 1-2 day Olds I rescued. These gals demand to be petted and lapsit.
I don’t understand this.
What kind of rescues are you talking about?
Tractor S is a commercial business. Why would they send rescues?

I know some domestic chickens like to sit on the lap of their caretaker. Some like a pet on the back if there is no willing rooster around. But I never heard chickens ‘demanding’ to be petted. What is their behaviour that makes you think so?

One of my chickens I had (not the Leghorn) demanded to be picked up and petted quite a bit. She was an older Black Australorp. So it IS possible. They’re not as stupid as people make them out to be. Not saying that you were saying that but just in general. Anyways, she would follow me around/be underfoot and peck me until I picked her up :lau then she would stay in my lap for extremely long periods of time and even let me carry her around the yard while I did other things. She LOVED attention. LOL some chickens just do.

True, some chickens are very clever. This ^^ chicken is kinda mental if you ask me.
AKA…Predator savvy
True. Free rangers who are predator savvy are clever!

Leghorns are the smartest breed.
Ever play tic-tac-toe against a chicken back in the day?
They were always Leghorns.
