Chicken Breed Focus - Norwegian Jaerhon

I have a nice flock of Norwegian Jaerhon. Lovely little birds that lay nicely shaped large eggs. We breed the dark variety and they lay white and tinted eggs.

I found out about them when browsing a small farm's site. I live near the city, and the city folk are all wanting chickens but most can't have roosters. Since they are the bulk of my customer base, I want to focus on breeds that I think would do very well for the family with a small yard who just wants eggs. I love that the Jaerhons are auto-sexing, predator-savvy and excellent layers while requiring zero to little feed input if free-ranged, so I bought some hatching eggs. They are 6 weeks old now, and the boys have had their big, red, adult rooster combs already since 4 weeks!

I know this is an old(er) thread but wondering where you are located. I am preparing to get my first chickens next spring and would like to have this breed. I'm near the Twin Cities in MN.

Perhaps this isn't appropriate, but I'm doing some research and need a photo I can use of a
Norwegian Jaerhon. This is for academic purposes and will not be used for any economic gain. If anyone is willing to share I'd gladly credit the photo to the owner.

I have one Jaerhon hen and she is quite the character. Flighty and very aloof with both me and the other birds, she never starts trouble and is very quiet but any bird that starts trouble with her will regret it. I think she is the head hen but it is hard to tell since she never bosses anyone around.

Oddest thing is she has virtually NEVER laid! By never I mean maybe once every 6-8 months! She is at least 4 years old now and very healthy but certainly not the "Production Laying Hen of Norway" that I was expecting.
