I have had several birds live to around 5 to 10 years, but now I sell them when they are still in their prime because I sell eggs. Also my husband gets on me about keeping non or some that produce few eggs, to sell them or put them in freezer camp. I have a few older girls in my general population coop. They don't lay a lot of eggs but I have a soft spot in my heart for them.Oh wow, that's pretty old for birds isn't it?
But then some go older right?
I probably will too. It's easier with a smaller flock I think because they'll be pets too so I don't necessarily have to get rid of them but I feel like it could also be harder because of the limited space, like I'd want more that did lay well but wouldn't wanna give up the older ones. But there also really aren't a lot of people living here right now so it should still be plenty of eggs lol
