Chicken Breed Reviews!

Just FYI it's Faverolles, not Faverolle. They were named after the town in France where the breed originated, and the town name is Faverolles, with an s.

Yes, that is true (the town is named Faverolles). However, the American Poultry Association deemed it proper to dub them Faverolles (plural) and Faverolle (singular) to save the confusion on plural pronunciation.

The Spelling note below is from and article on Faverolles written by the Livestock Conservancy (which can be referenced here: http://livestockconservancy.org/index.php/heritage/internal/faverolle)

Spelling note: While the village in France is spelled Faverolles with an 's' on the end, the American Poultry Association currently recognizes the official spelling as Faverolle without the s. When the breed is referenced in the plural form, it is spelled Faverolles.

Interesting, I will have to get out my SOP and see how the APA has them labelled.
