My 11 week old chicks

I'm getting 10 chicks just need to figure out how to get them from jhb to marble hall

thats a hard one , nspca has band transporting chicks via courrier, i am going to another place this week that is close to us which is on the way from here to the farm, maybe they will have something and i will let you know.

I dont know if its age or what but sheesh that head cold bug doing the rounds has had me knocked for 6 this past week. Still life continues. Lovely to read and catch up on how everyone is doing.
My girls are now about 16 weeks old and real little mommys girls. Their combs and wattles are changing colour which is good as that means egg laying is on the way. My husband has come to the realisation that the girls get fed better than he does. hahahaha shame.
i must say that i am not at all tempted to expand. I find my 4 are enough to keep me entertained and they are such a happy little group.
Although not so happy today. We made a new run for them to put in the garden so they can go to the weeds instead of me bringing the weeds to them. First day in it and I am having a lot of "what the heck" noises. hahaha

My new tshirt I made myself.

Rosey saying "SMILE!"

In their new pen.

My beautiful girls *love*

They're amazing! And so much character! I also like to spoil my girls, they get spirulina and feather and immune oils.. and fresh veggies every day. My friend says he wishes he had food like that. Just be careful they don't get overweight, very dangerous!!

Ok they are not THAT spoilt.

Every morning they get a cup of their pellets that have had either hot water, plain yoghurt, chicken/beef stock or scrambled egg to make a sort of porridge. That never lasts til lunch time. then they get to forage through 2 spades of garden sod and then for supper they get 2 handfuls of fresh from the garden spinach/lettuce/rocket/parsley/basil etc etc. they also have straight growers pellets available at all times. I tried them on a little raw mince last week and i now know what their ultimate "fight to the death cos i MUST have" treat is.
